The International 2024; Location, Release Date, Teams, Price Pool

Dota 2 officially released the news about the International 2024 also known as TI 2024 will happen in Copenhagen, Denmark this year.

The announcement of the location and month of The International 2024, which drops the numbered format which would make this The International 13, was made in a surprise blog post from Valve on the Dota 2 website. Most fans were not expecting any info on The International for months given the change in the pro scene that means it will be the only tournament Valve has a hand in this year.

However, the announcement is welcome news, especially for those of us in Europe who have not had the chance to attend The International since its first iteration back in 2011, when it was a part of the Gamescom trade show in Cologne, Germany. TI was supposed to be held in Stockholm in 2020 and then again in 2021, but the pandemic put an end to any hopes of a Swedish TI. Instead, the 2021 event was relocated to Romania, but just days before it was due to start it was announced that no fans would be able to attend the event due to a surge in coronavirus cases.

Exact dates for the tournament were not revealed, but the blog post did mention that it would kick off in September, which is slightly earlier than it has been in recent years. This could be the start of a change to move TI back to late summer, with the event traditionally being held in August.
